the Van Roock family

~:§:~

In the Belgian and Dutch databases of family names from the end of the 20th century, neither the family names Van Roock nor Van Rook can be found.
Still we sometimes find people mentioned who have the family name Van Roo(c)k.

It would be very surprising that people who are called Van Roo(c)k would not be related to the Van Roocke family.

In the genealogic databank of Rob Gomes we can find a S.M. Van Roock, who on the 17th of december 1947 married Cornelis Jan Dekker, born in Tjimahi on the isle of Java in 1920.
Alas, mr Gomes doesn't have any additional information concerning this mrs Van Roock, who by the way figures in this database with a questionmark after her last name.

In 1998, mr Van Roock, head of the local police in the Walloon village of Wanze, was the representative for the local police forces in the debate with the commission of the Belgian parliament which was preparing the great policereform program at the end of the 20th century.
We found mr Van Roock's name in the official report of this commission addressed to the Belgian parliament, and therefor thought we might assume without any doubt that this registration was correct...
When we contacted the local police of Wanze, we learnde that their chief was called Eddy Van Loock, and that his name had been spelled wrong...
So yet again, we didn't find a Van Roock.

On the website www.tournamentsoftware.com we can find that mr Rob van Roock is a member of the KNLTB, and that he actively took part in tennis tournaments in 2006 en 2007.
Rob van Roock in 99% of the mentions is registered as Van Roock, but sometimes also as de Roock...
