The localisation of the Verroken family
On the url http://www.familienaam.be you can find out where in Belgium the persons live who have the name you enter.
The department of Linguistics of the KULeuven university created this site, and the source they use are the records of the Belgian state-register of 1998.
We can see that in 1998 164 persons who were called Verroken lived in Belgium.

On the url http://www.familienaam.nl you can see the geographical dispersion in the Netherlands of the family name you enter.
Apparently, nobody who is called Verroken lives in the Netherlands.
On the url http://www.cartedefrance.tm.fr you can discover how many persons who carry the name you enter, were born during a certain period and in which departments in France.
Between 1891 and 1915 3 persons who were called Verroken were born in France, in the department "Nord".
Between 1916 and 1940 5 persons who were called Verroken were born in France, in the departments "Nord" and "Pas de Calais".
Since 1940 no Verroken was born in France.
There is a Verroken family in the United Kingdom.
They are the descendants of Oscar Verroken, who was woonded during the First World War ... he was taken care off by an English nurce, and after the war he followed her to England and married her.
Mark Verroken, a cousin of my father Antoine, and his doughter Andrea live in Austria, as does Barbara Verroken, doughter of an other Antoine.
I found out there are 3 persons called Verroken who live in the U.S.A.: Michelle Renée (°1957), Stan en Albert C. Verroken (°1943).
Through websites as peoplefinder, peopledata and ussearch I could find a few addresses, but all the letters -except one- returned to sender.
In 1999 dr Emma Veroken (indeed, with one r!) and dr. Peter Gasson surveyed over 1000 teens from various public schools in California...
I already contacted the Santa Barbara university and am waiting for a reply...
One of the goals of this website is to come in contact with these relatives, and connect them to our genealogy.
If one of you should read this text, we kindly ask you to contact us ...

Before the commercial success of civil aviation in the second half of the 20th century, everybody who emigrated to the United States of America, arrived by boat on Ellis Island, the little island in the Hudson bay, close to New York.
At this moment Ellis Island is known as the place where the statue of Liberty is situated.
On http://www.ellisisland.org it is possible to check some of the passengers-list of these boats.
In the passengers-list of the ship "Paris", which arrived in Ellis Island on november 19th 1921, we find the name of Jean-Marie Verroken.
![]() |
He was a salesman, could speak French and English, and came to the U.S.A. for one month, to visit his friend Mr.Playoust, who lived at 170 Summer Street in Boston Mass.
Jean-Marie did not have the intention to become a U.S. citizen, and would travel on to Canada.
Did he fool the administaration on Ellis Island, and did he stay in the U.S.A any way...Could he be the grandfather of the American connection of our genealogy ?
the ship "Paris" in 1921
There is 1 Verroken in Canada, but he has his place in the genealogy, and is not a direct descendant of Jean-Marie.
The localisation of the Verhoken family
As far as we know, the Verhoken family name can only be found in Belgium and France.
On the webpage http://www.familienaam.be of the department of linguistics of the KULeuven university, you can see that in 1998 15 persons who were called Verhoken were living in Belgium.
![]() |
On the webpage http://www.cartedefrance.tm.fr we find :
Between 1891 and 1915 4 people called Verhoken were born in the department "Nord".
Between 1916 and 1940 4 people named Verhoken were born there, and between 1941 and 1965 7 people who were called Verhoken were born in the French department "Nord".
Between 1966 and 1990 6 people called Verhoken were born, in the departments "Nord" and "Pas de Calais".
Certainly not all persons who are called Verhoken can be found in our genealogy.
Therefore I'd like to call upon everybody who's name is Verhoken, and has never heard anything from us, to contact us.
The localistion of the Verhoeke family.
The name Verhoeke is an alternative spelling of the name Verhoken in the north of France in the beginning of the 20th century.
This off course is the reason why this family name now exists only in the north of France.
Between 1891 and 1915 4 persons called Verhoeke were born in the French department "Nord".
Between 1916 and 1940 3 persons called Verhoeke were born there.
Between 1941 and 1965 7 presons named Verhoeke were born in the department "Nord", and 4 between 1966 and 1990.
I'd like to call upon everybody who is called Verhoeke, and has never heard anything from us, to contact us.
The localisation of the Van Roock family
In the databases with the Belgian and Dutch familiynames, the name Van Roock can not be found.
Yet, the name Van Roock appears sometimes in Belgium and Holland.
The persons who are called Van Roock, are most probably descendants of Marcus van Roocke, member of the de le Rocque family from Ellezelles, who emigrated to Leiden at the end of the 16 th century.
We'd like to repeat our appeal : if you know anybody who's called Van Roock, or if your name is Van Roock, could you contact us ?
It would really be wonderful if we could find a connection with our genealogy!
The localisation of the Van Roe(c)ke family
The names Van Roecke and Van Roeke do not figure in the Belgian and Dutch databases of family names.
Yet we can sometimes find these familienames in Belgium and in Holland.
We'd like to repeat our appeal : if you know anybody who's called Van Roock, or if your name is Van Roock, could you contact us ?
It would really be wonderful if we could find a connection with our genealogy!
The localisation of the name Deleroke
In Belgium, we've never found the name de le Roke in any document younger than 1450.
Through geneanet we were able to search on line in the Coutot-files.
We discovered that in France, between 1798 and 1860, in the departement Ancienne Seine close to Paris, in the books of birth, mariage and death, one person who was called Deleroke was registered.
In the lists of persons who were entitled to vote in 1891 in the departement Ancienne Seine one Deleroke appears.
Sinds 1891 not one person called Deleroke was born in France...
The "k" in the name Deleroke proves that this name is of Picardian origin.
Whether these persons were descendants of "our" de le Roke family has to be investigated.
The localisation of the Delerock family
The family name Delerock doesn't figure in the Belgian nor Dutch databases of family names.
Between 1966 and 1990 in France 3 persons were born with the name Delerock, in Paris and in Val de Marne and Val d'Oise, two departements just north and just south of Paris.
The relation between this small Delerock family and "our" de le Roke family isn't clear yet.
Maybe thee family name Delerock is a variation in spelling of the name Deleroke.
The fact that before 1966 no Delerocks were born in France, points out this family has its origin in an other country ... and here as well, the "k" in the name suggests Picardian roots.
We'd like to repeat our appeal : if you know anybody who's called Delerock, or if your name is Delerock, could you contact us ?
The localisation of the Delrocq family
![]() |
One could suspect this family name to be less rare in France, but the geographical dispersion of the Delrocq family name in France is limited to 2 departments:
Between 1891 and 1915 10 persons called Delrocq were born in the departments "Nord" and "Pas de Calais".
Between 1916 and 1940 20 persons called Delrocq were born in the departements "Nord" and "Pas de Calais".
Between 1941 and 1965 33 persons called Delrocq were born in the departments "Nord", "Pas de Calais" and "Ardennes".
Between 1966 and 1990 31 persons named Delrocq were born in the departments "Nord", "Pas de Calais" and "Yvelines".
The connection between the Belgian and the French Delrocq families hasn't been searched for yet.
The localisation of the Delrock family
![]() |
The Delrock family in Belgium is a very small family as well : in 1998 only 8 persons in Belgium were called Delrock.
The Delrock family in France isn't much bigger :
Between 1891 and 1915 1 Delrock was born in the department "Nord".
Between 1916 and 1940 2 Delrocks were born in France, "dispersed" over the departments "Nord" and "Pas de Calais".
After 1940 nobody who had the family name Delrock was registrated as born in France.
In the Netherlands we have found 16 persons called Delrock in 1993.
3 in Delft, and 13 in the south tip of the province of Limburg...exactly where we found the van Roocke and vander roecken families in the 16th century, but surely, this hàs to be coincidence ...

The connection between the Belgian, French and Dutch Delrock families has not been investigated yet.
The localisation of the Delrocque family
The relationship between the de le Roke family en the Delrocque family is not clear at all.

| the Delrocque family : 2 persons | the Delarocque family : 3 persons |
The Delrocque family in Belgium is an extremely small family : in 1998 only 2 persons who lived near Liège were called Delrocque.
The Delarocque family name is very rare in Belgium : in 1998 only 3 people called Delarocque lived in Belgium, approximately where the Delrocque family was living.
Since there already was a Delrocque family living near Liège at the end of the 16th century, and a connection with "our" de le Roke family is very unlikely.
The geographical dispersion of the Delrocque family name in France is surprisingly comparable to the localisation of the Delrocq and Delrock family :The connection between the Belgian and the French Delrocque family and the relation with the Belgian or French Delrocq family has not been investigated yet.
The localisation of the Derocq family
In 1998 5 persons who were called Derocq lived in Belgium, in the southwest of the province of West-Vlaanderen and in the northwest of the province of Hainaut, as a matter of fact not thàt far away from Tournai.
It's not clear yet if there is a connection between this Derocq family and "our" de le Roke family.
In France, there is a quite big Derocq family, in the departements Nord and Pas de Calais ; here as well we still have to figure out if there is a relation with "our" de le Roke family from Tournai.
The localisation of the Derock family
In 1998 81 persons who were called Derock were living in Belgium, most of them in the province of Hainaut and in the southern region of the province of West-Vlaanderen... not so far away from Tournai.
We have not investigated yet if there is a connection between the Derock family and "our" de le Roke family from Tournai.
In France there is a quite big Derock family as well, between 1891 and 1940 mostly in the departements Nord and Pas de Calais, later on dispersing over the midwest of France.
We still have to investigate whether there is a connection between this French Derock family and the de le Roke family from Tournai.
The localisation of the De Roque family
The names De Rocque, De Rocques and De Roques do not exist in Belgium, Holland or France.
Only in the southwest of France, in the department Gironde, there is a small De Roque family.
Taking in consideration the important geographic distance, there probably is no genealogical connection between this De Roque family and "our" de le Roke family .
Between 1891 and 1915 no births of persons who were called de Roque were registered in France.
Between 1916 and 1940 2 persons were born in the Gironde in France who were called de Roque.
Between 1941 and 1965 4 persons were born in the Gironde in France who were called de Roque.
Between 1966 and 1990 1 person was born in the Gironde in France who was called de Roque.
